- Photograph caption dated June 20, 1962 reads, "Snow covered area near the 8,516-foot high site of the Mountain Station of the new $7,700,000 Palm Springs Aerial Tramway looks down on Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley floor, 450 feet above sea level. An accumulated snowfall of 131 inches was recorded during winter of 1961-62 in Long Valley near Mountain Station, which will be terminal of tramway. Completion of the world's largest passenger-carrying aerial tram in May, 1963 will open up a new year-round recreation area."
