Innovative features which became industry standards include the individual tail races, internal revolving field alternators, and transposition of wires. When Powerhouses 2 and 3 were added, the system became the prototype for the larger hydroelectric systems of the twentieth century. Nominated to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985; American Society of Civil Engineers Historic and Engineering Landmark in 1985.
