- Exterior postcard view of the Casa del Desierto (House of the Desert) in Barstow. This landmark hotel was built in 1912. In bygone days the hotel housed famous movie stars while shooting films in the desert. In the earlier days of gracious living the "Harvey Girls" brightened the dining room. Railroad tracks are seen in the foreground.
