- Panoramic postcard showing the grounds of the Loma Linda Sanitarium, located in the midst of a large citrus grove in Loma Linda, San Bernardino County. The insert on the right shows an exterior view of the sanitarium's exterior, indicating that it has 100 rooms. This structure first served as the Mound City Hotel, built around 1887, but three years later during the 1890 depression, the hotel failed. Some investors purchased the failed property with dreams to turn the former hotel into a health resort, but those plans failed as well. The property was then purchased by a local and Seventh-day Adventist settler, John Burden. The sanitarium opened in 1905.; Printed message on the verso of the postcard reads, "With the compliments of the Loma Linda Sanitarium Loma Linda, Cal. A charming health resort, amid some of the earth's most inspiring scenery and delightful climate. Sixty-two miles east of Los Angeles, on main line of Southern Pacific Railroad."
