A similarly-designed sign pointing to the monument stands a little farther in the foreground to the right. The text on the plaque reads "Sycamore Valley Ranch. / Formerly Called Sycamore Grove / First camp of the pioneers / June 1851 / Capt. Jefferson Hunt, Amasa Lyman, Charles C. Rich, David Seely, Andrew Lytle.".
