- Photograph of orange grove, showing Southern Pacific passenger train moving in the background, ca.1880. At center, a large orange grove is clearly visible. Numerous lines of orange trees can be seen stretching from the left to the right of the image. In the background, a five-compartment passenger train can be seen moving to the right. Several windows line the side of the back three compartments, while very few windows can be seen along the two compartments directly behind the train. Above the train, large plumes of white smoke are clearly seen tilting to the left. Beyond the train, several more orchard fields are visible. In the extreme background, an enormous mountain frames the bleak sky.
