- Photograph of a several stands of palm trees (Washingtonia Filifera) in Chuckwalla (or Chuckawalla) Canyon in the Colorado Desert, northeast of Palm Springs, near Indio, ca.1903-1904. There is little other vegetation in the sand except for some scrub brush in a wash at right. The rocky and sandy slopes show considerable erosion.
