- Photograph of a prospector (Edward La Mamlarin (or Mamlain) who was raised in Calico, California) walking in the desert with a saddled horse and two pack donkeys, 1880-1910. Wooden cross-buck pack saddles with soft cargo lashed. They are following the ruts of a wagon. The flat landscape visible behind them is covered with scrub bush and scrub grass. In the distance is a hill at the base of which is a building. In the distant background are mountain ranges.
