- Photograph of a group of about seven people making camp at Indian Wells on the old Butterfield Stage Line, east of Palm Springs, west of Indio. Three men (including Douglas Fairbanks, Sr.) sit on two camp benches in the foreground. Also in the image is Carl Eytel, artist. A tent is erected near one a wagon and a grazing horse or mule in the background at left. Another wagon sits near a blanket, tent canvas, rug, or bedroll in the foreground at right. The well is visible in the background. Scrub brush is the primary vegetation in the background. Note: originally, the photograph was captured as "Group of people making camp at Indian Wells on the Butterworth Stage Line, ca.1904".
