- Photograph of the Zanja Madre irrigation ditch in Riverside, ca.1900. The ditch is in the center of the picture, and its calm water is reflecting the scene around it. There are trees on both sides of the ditch, separated from the edge of the water by narrow dirt paths. There is a wooden foot bridge in the distance, and in the background, fenced in with a picket fence, there are trees planted in neat rows, perhaps part of an orchard.
