- Photograph caption dated June 26, 1963 reads, "Major step in the progress of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, six miles from here, was taken when workmen placed one of 80-passenger cars on track cable at the Valley Station. Major tourist attraction, which opens Sept. 14, will take passengers 8,516 ft. up Mt. San Jacinto."
