- Photograph caption dated April 6, 1966 reads, "The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the world's largest, longest single-lift passenger-carrying tramway, is operating daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Visitors are lifted from the 2643 foot level of Chino Canyon 8,516 feet up the eastern escarpment of Mt. San Jacinto. Two passenger cars operating in opposite directions make the two and one-half mile trip in a matter of minutes."
